The Summer Game Fest gave us a lot to be excited for but one thing that really surprised us was the announcement of the 1.0 launch of Palworld, slated to release on July 10th. The sandbox survival, creature collection game released into early access two and a half years ago, in January 2024. Since the initial launch, we have gotten some very big updates including the Sakurajima and Feybreak patches which included massive new zones, continued progression in the form of more boss towers and other POIs, and new entries to the Palpedia.

These two massive updates (along with the notable additions of crossplay and a crossover with Terraria) make it all the more exciting as Pocketpair’s Community Manager, Bucky, boasts that this will be the biggest update so far with over 27 pages of patch notes. While the patch notes themselves haven’t been released (and likely won’t be until the official launch), we have already been shown a bit of what to expect with the 1.0 update. Pocketpair has tweeted out a number of smaller showcases of new Pals directly as well as within the cinematic trailer debuted at Summer Game Fest. In the trailer we also get a glimpse of a zone made up of sky islands, a massive serpent Pal, and a tease of the final zone, the World Tree. Players have been able to see the World Tree in the distance of the game from the start but it has always been inaccessible.

The 1.0 update promises major additions to the game in every step of progression. New quests, mechanics, an overarching story, the inclusion of the endgame zone, and already over 20 new Pals have been teased. While Pocketpair has tweeted that it is not completely necessary to start over and wipe your save, it is highly recommended to get the full 1.0 experience.
